In Hangzhou, each activity beckons you to discover the poetry and tranquility of one of China’s most beautiful cities. When to go to Hangzhou

The best times to visit Hangzhou are between March and May and between September and November. During the spring the city is full of beautiful flowers and the temperatures (around 12ºC - 25ºC) are great for walking around in and around the Western Lake. The autumn is also a good time to visit because the climate is cool and dry, the trees are golden, and the light during this time of year can be stunning against the temples and traditional gardens. Visitor numbers tend to be reasonable during spring and autumn, as you miss the hot, humid summer crowds, and get relatively good hotel prices (think how nice Hangzhou must have been before it became popular). Summer (June - August) can be busy, hot (above 35ºC) and humid. Winter (December - February) remains quiet, although it will be colder and foggy. If you want to really appreciate Hangzhou's scenic splendour, charm and cultural richness, you should visit Hangzhou in either spring or autumn!
