When to go to Malmö

If you're considering traveling to Malmö, mid-spring to early-summer and early autumn are the best times. There is quite a lot of sunshine, the temperatures aren't too hot, and you can visit the city and/or enjoy nature without having to deal with too many other people. The summer months are the warmest and brightest, and the best conditions for outdoor sports and swimming, but that's when the city often has the largest number of people and accommodation prices are very much inflated. For the best balance of cost and experience, the cooler stretches of early spring or late autumn are often the least crowded, which often yields a better and more reasonably purchased experience although the weather can be less predictable. Malmö is also a acceptable place to visit in winter when it is colder, but the days are short. There you find some fairly nice weather when the daytime temperature is above the nighttime lows, even winter walks can be nice! In summary, the best and most functional opportunity to have the best time in Malmö is found in shoulder seasons with the most comfortable weather and environment, and more affordable prices.

As the evening rolls in, you can enjoy another beautiful sunset over the Öresund and then have a final drink in a fun bar in the centre of Malmö or one close to the harbour.

Practical information about Malmö

Malmö is a relatively small, well-connected city: it's only about 30 minutes by train from central Copenhagen to the centre of Malmö, after crossing the famous Öresund Bridge. Once there, the city is ideal for walking or cycling - there are many well-maintained cycle paths, used by many locals. The public transport network is efficient and punctual. Regional buses and trains also serve the surrounding towns and villages for those wishing to explore Skåne. Weather-wise, be prepared for changeable weather, even in summer: a windproof jacket and good shoes are welcome. What's more, this is a city that is generally safe and pleasant to live in. Many cultural venues, transport services and museums are free or offer reduced rates for students and young people. To top it all off, almost everyone speaks English, which helps if you don't speak Swedish.
